What a great month. School started for Ryker and he is doing GREAT. I couldn't be happier with where he is at. The staff their is great and so friendly. I went to the first PTSO meeting and they such great moms and dads who are helping out the school. Ryker also came home from school and I asked him "are you making friends and getting to know other kids?" His response was..."Mom I have the most BEAUTIFUL girl in my class, and I sit by here, her name is Nya and I love her"..........I was shocked that my weapon making, kung fu fighting, shark loving BOY was already all dreamy eyed over a girl. So I have been talking alot to him about how we are "just friends" and he should be friends with lots of kids. Oh boy, here we go.
As for other fun things happening at the Martineau home we finally have our first official pet. Shaun and I are NOT animal lovers. We will never own a dog or cat. But I do love turtles. They don't make noise, they don't have fur, you don't have to give them attention.....they are the best. I have had this turtle since he was born, 5 years ago but I kept him at my parents house. We finally brought him to our house and it is so fun. The kids love feeding him and making sure he has water. I named him Payce (don't ask why) 5 years ago but Ryker didn't like that name so I told him her can re-name him and he changes it everyday so who knows what it is today =)
Shaun works at ABC 15 and shoots and edits commercials for them. Every once in awhile they need a kid to be in the commercial and Shaun's boss just thinks Ryker is the cutest so the try to use him when ever they can. They were in need of a little boy so Ryker got the job (no their is no money involved, I wish) and I took him to the station so Shaun could get the footage he needed. Amelia was not invited, she is to crazy. When we went into Shaun's office, Ryker says "Dad it looks like the inside of a rocket ship", their are monitors and buttons everywhere so it actually does =)
Shaun behind the camera doing his thing and Ryker being a ham for the camera. He was cracking us up!!!
So be watching ABC15 for a quick 30 second commercial about donating 3 books you get free rides at the state fair or something.
When we get a little rain my kids love to run out and play. Of course we need to use those umbrellas that are only opened like 4 times a year.
Amelia's FAVORITE thing to do these days is play Candyland with her Dad. The minute he gets home from work, she runs up to him, hugs him and says "Can we play a game?" Usually dinner is about ready so we eat and while I clean up Shaun plays a game with the kids. The goal of the game is to get to the end where King Kandy lives. Well Amelia just want to get to Lolly Lollipop.....she loves her and if she gets her card from the pile we have to beg her to give it back when we are cleaning up the game. Ryker on the other hand is obsessed with winning. He didn't get that from me, I'm so not competitive.
I was so happy to get to learn another skill from my talented mom. She has been making these Triko quilts forever, she made one for me 28 years ago. They are silky and soft and hand-sewn. She has made one for Ryk and Millie so it was time to make one for baby brother. I love to sew by hand, it is therapeutic for me. I can't sit for very long because baby in my tummy will start kicking and wants me to stretch out so I would sew on it with many breaks and my mom just sewed away. This does take time and practice. My mom is so fast and has perfect stitching, while you can tell where I have been sewing.
My dad got a temp job in CO a few months back and my mom can back to AZ a few weeks ago to do some stuff on their house that is being redone. She is leaving tomorrow and will probably be there a year or so with my dad, brother and sister. Lets just say I cry everytime I think about it. I will be honest, I don't like it one bit. I don't like being split up and I know families do it all the time but it is not for me. I know things will work out for the best and I will manage somehow with out my mommy. I am a 28 year old woman afterall but still needs her mama!! I will post pictures of the finished blanket =)

I am sad for you to not be near your mom! Let's just say, I know how it feels :) But a year will pass in no time and hopefully they will move back. That blanket looks great! I'm embarrassed that I don't know how to quilt or do anything "homemakerish". Your mom is the epitome of Martha Stewart.
Can't wait to see the finished product on the blanket. My kids LOVE their "silkies" as well. I am so sorry you are separated from your family right now. I can appreciate how hard that is for you.
I know exactly how you feel! We've had our family together for years without anyone being split up until my sis and her hubby just moved to CHINA. Of all the places in the world to move, China is a place I just cant go visit. Im so so sad and I couldnt stand for my parents to move away from me. Im such a baby about family splitting up. I wish we could just all have successful jobs here in Gilbert or Mesa and live close the rest of our lives. :)
I think you should take one of our cats! who needs turtles lol. Just kidding I love your kiddos!
