Friday evening I got together with Missy my sis in law and we went over to my mom in laws house to do some crafts. The boys all went to see a movie. I put Amelia to bed there a little after 7:00, then Missy and I needed to run to Hobby Lobby to get a few more things for our projects. So we go and get the things we need and the store closes at 8:00pm so we headed up to the front to buy our things.
The girl just got done ringing up all the things I was going to buy and tell me my total when I heard a man talking to the girl at the register right behind me say "give me all your money from the register" I turn around to see 2 men dressed in all black, with a ski mask and sunglasses on. I froze....staring at the gun the man was holding. For a split second I was in shock and thinking to myself ....this man could kill someone. I started walking backward to get away, as did everyone else. All I could think at this time was I have 2 small kids who need me. A group of us got to the back on the store near the emergency exit but we were scared to go out because what if there were others waiting back there (come to find out there was another guy out back). I had my cell phone in my back pocket and called 911 right away. In a time that felt like FOREVER, the police arrived in probably 3 mins.
NO ONE was hurt......thankfully and they grabbed the money and ran. I don't even know if they were ever caught. We stayed for another hour while the police searched all around and we had to write up statements.
I know this happens all the time and someone trying to steal money is not usually wanting to kill people, but during that time, seeing a man with his finger on the trigger is a feeling I NEVER want to feel again.
I'm SO grateful to my Heavenly Father for keeping not only me safe but all those who were there that night. Some might find this to be over the top but I'm a very emotional and sensitive person. I'm also very grateful for Police officers and those who risk their lives to keep us safe and feeling protected. I'm so excited this week is Thanksgiving and I can spend time with those I love. That is a night I will never forget but wish I could.

Thanks for sharing your terrifying moment. I think it happens a lot, but I don't think you were over the top at all to be emotional about it. It's totally different when you're married and have kids to worry about. I got all teary eyed wondering what I'd do, probably start crying.. but I don't know, and hope I never do. I'm so glad everything was fine and you're safe. Happy Thanksgiving.
Holy COw! I am feeling shaky just thinking about beung there. What a blessing that no one was hurt. I am so glad you and everyone else was able to go home to their families safe and sound.
You have got to be kidding me! Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh.... Oh my gosh. And at Hobby Lobby, the happiest place on earth. Next to Disney Land of course. Good for you for staying so calm. I would have probably opened my big mouth and said something stupid. I can't stand people that steal. I'm glad everyone was ok. SCARY.
Unbelievable! That's totally one of those situations where you think it could only happen to someone else, never "me". So glad no one was hurt. I think it's weird someone would rob a craft store.... I don't know. I was just at Hobby Lobby today and asked the clerk if she had heard about the {Arizona robbery}. She hadn't, and was pretty shocked to hear about it. If something had happened to my favorite cousin, I would have found that dirty stealer and torn his head off!!! :)
David would tell me it was a sign to stop shopping at Hobby Lobby! No, really, I'm so glad you and everyone else were ok. You never think something like that will happen. I don't know what I would do in that kind of situation. So many things to be grateful for!
WHAT???!!! For reals that happend? DYING HERE! I would have been peeing my pants too Leah. And of all places Hobby Lobby, the 2nd happiest place on earth! I thought for sure at the end you were going to say just kidding that didn't realy happen. how come they didn't say anything on the news? So glad nothing happend and of course one extra thing to be grateful for this Thanksgiving!
What the crap!!!!!! Good thing I have never stepped foot in a Hobby Lobby. Jk Glad you and Missy are ok. That would be awful to go through that. I couldn't even imagine.
Are you kidding me right now? That is so scary, I bet you were horrified and Missy too. Im glad you were smart enough to get out of the way..... tender mercies all your way that night huh?
I am so grateful you were safe. I really hope the police were able to catch them. I will make sure to tell my hubby that you are grateful for them as police officers!
Oh Leah! I'm so glad you weren't hurt. How scary. Love ya Girl!
Men in black?! Ski masks?! Guns?! I hope I never have to experience that! I'm so glad everything was okay, and no, you are not overly dramatic at all! Hope you guys have a Happy Thanksgiving!! :)
Scary!!! I was wondering why the police had all the entrances blocked off to the parking lot and office building across from my neighborhood. BTW, we miss your preschool.
Do you think they needed money for tithing settlement?
